Quick take
Shortlist ClickUp if its free allowance for members and tasks, or its published sprint and time-tracking features, fit your team. Shortlist monday.com if your workflow maps cleanly to its boards and the seat-based plan includes the views and monthly automation actions you need. These are plan-fit criteria, not a universal product ranking.
Plans and documented limits

- Unlimited tasks and unlimited free members, with 60 MB storage, up to 5 Spaces, and 1 form.
- monday.com
- Up to 2 seats, 3 boards, and 3 Docs. The plan page also lists 200+ templates.

Published product structure
- ClickUp
- The plan page lists tasks, Docs, list/table/calendar views, Kanban boards, sprint management, and time tracking.
- monday.com
- The plan page describes boards for organizing work and data, with columns, templates, and plan-specific views and workflows.
ClickUp’s listed Core and Business prices are per user/month billed yearly. monday.com’s page showed a 10-seat selector when checked; its displayed per-seat rates are billed annually. Final totals depend on seat count, billing selection, taxes, and current offers. Verify the quote before purchase.
Compare automation allowances carefully
The vendors describe these limits differently: ClickUp lists automations per month, while monday.com lists monthly automation and integration actions. The numbers should not be treated as equivalent units without checking how each product counts the actions in your workflow. Test a representative process and review the plan’s usage counter before upgrading.
A practical way to decide
- Shortlist ClickUp if your team needs many free members and tasks, or specifically wants the sprint management and time tracking shown on its plan page.
- Shortlist monday.com if the board-based structure suits your work and Standard or Pro includes the views, guests, and monthly action limits you expect to use.
- Before migrating, test one real project in both products and compare permissions, reporting, recurring work, storage, integrations, and the total price for your actual seat count.
